NEWARTHILL Amateur Boxing Club flyweight Charlie Flynn got a boost ahead of his second trip to the Institute of Sport in Sheffield for an assessment weekend with the GB development squad.

The 14-year-old Scottish 50kg champion and British silver medallist has been sponsored by three local businessmen which has helped him purchase training equipment and competition kit.

Danny Kelly, of Kelly Properties, has supplied Charlie's competition ring kit whilst taxi cab owner Stephen Murphy and Marc McGinnis, of Lanarkshire Security Service, have covered the cost of his training equipment.

Scottish internationalist Charlie, who attended the four-day assessment in Sheffield last weekend, thanked Danny, Stephen and Marc for their sponsorship and support.
