TEENAGE Bellshill snooker player James Young is on cue to make his international debut

The 16-year-old Bellshill Academy pupil has been called up to the Scotland under-16 squad who will face England in Leeds.

James has been playing snooker in the Scottish Snooker League Association for three years but the match against the Auld Enemy will be his first outing at international level.

James started out at Riley's Club in Bellshill and then moved on to Craigpark Masters in Glasgow, where he now works at weekends cleaning tables for such players as former world champions Graeme Dott and John Higgins.

The teenager has also been putting in hours of practice on the tables and the hard work is beginning to bear fruit.

James has so far racked up a highest break of 123 and has many other century breaks to his credit. He has also won two pro-am tournaments at Craigpark Masters.

Now he's in the frame to take a further step forward by making an impact at international level.
