MOTHERWELL-based Lanarkshire Housing Association has been awarded the Jobcentre Plus disability symbol.
The symbol was awarded in recognition of the company's commitment to people with disabilities demonstrated through the retention, training and career development of all of its employees with health conditions.

Thomas Cartwright MBE, human resources and equality convener of Lanarkshire Housing Association, said: "We are delighted to receive this award. Our organisation is fully committed to providing employment opportunities for all. Candidates applying for employment with us are judged on their skills and abilities; disability or health issues need not be a barrier.

"Once recruited we ensure that they have full access to development opportunities within the organisation. People with a health condition or disability who have the skills we are looking for have a valuable role to play in the modern workforce.

"Lanarkshire Housing Association would encourage other employers to adopt the same principles."

For further information on the award of the disability symbol contact your local Jobcentre or visit www.jobcentreplus.co.uk
