BELLSHILL bakery firm Warburtons has officially unwrapped its new distribution depot at Eurocentral.

Brett Warburton, company executive director and one of three cousins who actively manage the business today, unveiled a commemorative plaque to mark the official opening.

He said: "I am very pleased that our new distribution facility has officia
lly opened and I'm delighted to be here with the team to mark this special occasion.

"Our growth in Scotland has meant that we have outgrown the distribution facility at our Bellshill bakery. The new 20,000 square foot Eurocentral depot will allow us to add 40 new delivery routes to the 55 already serviced from our Bellshill plant and create a number of new jobs over the next few years."

The Eurocentral development will permit Warburtons to expand its geographical reach in Scotland. Currently Warburtons delivers daily across Scotland, from Aberdeen and the Highlands and Islands in the North to Stranraer in the South.

The family-run business, which is this year celebrating the 10th anniversary of its arrival in Scotland, currently employs over 370 people between its bakery at Righead Industrial Estate and distribution depot in Aberdeen.

Three years ago the company completed a £15 million extension and created 60 new jobs at Bellshill.
