OVER 10,000 retro revellers re-lived their youths as the second Retrofest festival rocked Strathclyde Country Park.
The mud underfoot didn't dampen the spirits of festival goers who pulled on their wellies and danced their way through sets by Saturday's headliners the Bangles and Sunday's star Boy George.

Other crowd pleasers included sets from Kim Wilde and Peter Andre on Saturday and Kajagoogoo and Bucks Fizz on Sunday.

As well as fantastic live performances, festival goers rolled on their leg warmers and their leggings and got back to the 80s at the Retro Ritz Cinema, which screened retro classics including Ferris Bueller's Day Off and The Neverending Story.

Revellers also enjoyed the Club Tropicana Beach, which featured 60 tonnes of imported sand, a surf simulator and space-hopper races.
Organisers Bradley Snelling and Malcolm Cannon were delighted with the success of the festival.

Mr Snelling said: "It's been amazing to see so many people here and enjoying themselves at Retrofest 2008. It's been hard work but we've loved every minute of it. It's great to see all these fantastic artists performing together. We hope to get even more retro favourites on board for Retrofest 2009."

North Lanarkshire Council's head of regeneration services Maureen McConachie said: "We always knew it would be a fantastic event, but the turnout over the weekend exceeded all of our expectations, and over 10,000 festival goers can't be wrong!

"All the hard work and months of preparation behind the scenes have really paid off as once again, Strathclyde Park has proven itself to be the perfect venue for events of this nature. We're already making plans for Retrofest 2009!"
