A FORMER circus ring master and the owner of a chain of stage schools have joined forces to stage one of Europe's largest music festivals in Strathclyde Park this summer.
Malcolm Cannon and Bradley Snelling invested £500,000 to launch events company Terraventas Ltd earlier this year.
The first "Retrofest" was launched by Bradley at Culzean Castle last year and following its success the pair joined forces and got
support from North Lanarkshire Council for a bigger and better event to be
staged at Strathclyde Country Park.
Retrofest runs from August 29-31 and will reprise the best of the 1980s music scene with headline acts such as Boy George and the Bangles performing live on stage.
Malcolm, a former circus ring master and commercial director for M&D's theme park, said: "Bradley and I have channelled a lot of personal time and effort into this new enterprise. I was hugely impressed by the success of Retrofest last year and with Bradley's vision for the festival.
"He is a born entertainer and we both have wide experience working in events and in the entertainment sector. Our partnership was a natural progression for both of us and one which I believe will have a huge impact on the events industry.
"With the support of North Lanarkshire Council and our move to Strathclyde Country Park, Retrofest will certainly bring the area alive and bolster the local economy and tourism industry. We aim to put Central Scotland on the music festival map."
