Bands get ready to commence battle

THE countdown is officially on for this year's Battle of the Bands competition.
Entry forms are available now after the contest was launched by North Lanarkshire Council's Learning and Leisure Services department.
Heats will take place in Motherwell Concert Hall on three Friday evenings in October - on the 3rd, 17th and 24th from 7.30pm.
Six bands will be selected to take part in each heat and two bands from those heats will qualify for the grand final, which will be held in Motherwell Concert Hall on Friday, October 31.
The winners will receive six days recording at the newly refurbished Beetroot Studios, Petersburn in Airdrie. Second prize will be four days recording and third prize will be two days recording at the Beetroot Studios.
Entry costs £3 per band. A non-returnable demo tape or CD and a photograph must be provided.
The closing date is Friday, September 12 and all competitors must be over 16 years. They must also reside in North Lanarkshire, attend music classes here, or have recorded at Beetroot Studios, Petersburn.
